BIG BEN

Big Ben is the term used to refer to the Great bell of the clock at the north end  situated at the Palace of Westminster. The tower is officially known as the Elizabeth Tower, named in tribute to Queen Elizabeth II in her Diamond Jubilee Year,  and it was buitl from 1843 to 1858. The Big Ben is one of the best known icons of London, and has been voted the Most Iconic Film Location in London. It is also one of tourists´ favourite places in London since it has an ancient and pinturesque view. Another popular tourist attraction is its height, which impresses all the peoble who visite it. Despite of being one of the most famous tourist attractions, it is not open to enter insite to overseas visitors. However, the tower hasn´t got any lift, so those who wanted to climb it have to climb the 334 limestone stairs to the top.

Last year, I visited London with my classmates and we stayed there for three days. Although this was a very short period of time to see all famous places in London, we could see The Big Ben and took a lot of photos with it.

To sum up, I want you to recomend to visit this beautiful construction and monument because it is a remarkable place to visit when you go to London.

Thinking about future...

Personally speaking I am a person who has always been really good at English, even when I was just a child, so I am pretty sure of that the next professional studies that I am going to do will be related to English. More specifically, I would like to specialise on translation and interpretation in English.

My mum has always been an important and essential person in my life since she has always supported me by giving really good tips and advices about(concerning) what really makes me feel happy and satisfied with myself, and one of these things is English.

I know that to access to the job market are really important and necessary some specific skill that are related to each degree or any job, so I have to work very hard to achieve what I want.

Nowadays, the harsh reality of our society is that we are preparing ourselves for an uncertain future in which you have no certainty(certain) if you are going to have a job in what you want(to do), or even if you are going to find a job. 

Above all of this, I am pretty sure of that I will work on a job related to English and to many different languages such as German or French since when I propose something I achieve it due to I am a very determined person who wants to dedicate her life to what she likes and enjoys. 

THE PURPOSE OF EDUCATION

People are not always really concern about how important education is in our society and in our life.

Nowadays, every teenager and every single child has access to internet and to many electronic gadgets. This teen social media addiction has increased in the last years since modern teenagers have become addicted to new technologies and social media, and as I see it, that is not good for them since sometimes they forget their responsibilities of studying and doing a degree to find the employment they want to do in the future.

Personally speaking tests can be a good educational tool and helpful for education, but they do not excite us or do not encourage us to find what we want to do during our entire life. They do not help us to determinate how we can work by our own or do and fight things by ourselves. 

To my mind a person can do magnificently on a test, but understands very little. Our educational system is geared to get children pass the tests or exams, just for that. If you ask a student something he or she has studied along the last year at school or high school,  he will probably  not remember nothing, since students are getting in used of memorize what they have to put on the exams without learning almost anything.

In addition, many institutions want people to be indoctrinated, for not be able to ask too many questions. This is one of the reasons of why education is so important nowadays is our lives, due to we need to be better human beings and feel comfortable with ourselves and be able to fight for what we want in our life.

To sum up, teaching ought to be inspired for  students to find and study by their own what they want to do during their whole life.

Family is a concept which is really important in people´s lives since it is our most important support and help in our life and in the bad moments that can happen to us.

First of all I am going to talk about the most admired member to me in my family, which/who is my mother. She is the strongest person I´ve ever known in my life due to she is always protecting her family and taking care of them no matter bad(worse) is the situation, she always find a way to get ahead and to see the positive side of the problem. I admired her not only for that, there much many more reasons such as she always supports me and advice me to take good decisions in my life and that she always put others first.  She is a wonderful person who only wants the best for her two daughters, my sister Marta and me.

My sister is ten years old and, as I see it, she is the tiny tot of my family since she is very cute and lovely. To my mind she looks like my mother because both of them are really outgoing and cheerful. She is pretty different from me in many ways. As an example I tell you that she is always in moving and she can´t stay calm or still. In a word, we are opposites. Sometimes she can be a little stubborn, but she is so cute and pretty that you will love her at the first time you meet her. 

Space Debris

Space Debris is a really important problem that affects the environmental of our planet and the "living things" that live in it. To my mind people are not always really concern about how environmental problems such as Space Debris can affect our world and can also be really harmful for  people who live in it. We are get in use of being people who don´t care about their own planet.

Finally, I want you to think about the consequences of our bad behaviour with our planet and I also want to encourage you to try to do something to contribute  and help our planet.

Nowadays, people are strongly influenced by social networks, and teenagers are part of this group of people too. We are get in used of using social media and new technologies for everything in our life, and as I see it, that's not really good for us since we are turning into people who depend on new technologies and social networks, which are not as good as can be seen at first due to they can be considered a bad influence for modern teenagers. This is because in this networks are showed certain contents that encourage teenagers to do what everyone at the moment do and to follow the fads.

This is a widely used way in modern teenagers who do what people usually do just only to make friends or to fit in society and gain a reputation without thinking in the consequences.  This way of having a good time and sharing happiness with friends is developing in certain activities which are not good for people's healthy, such as drinking and smoking.

There are many reasons of this teenagers' behavior, such as making friends or trying to fit in society, but there are also some less common reasons, like an unhappy childhood. This last cause produce in teenagers an aggressive and impulsive behavior which leads them into social problems.

Personally speaking you don't have to do things which you don't want to since you have to have our own personality to decide what you want to do in your life.  To my mind you don't have to take the easy way just because everybody chooses it, you have to decide it by yourself. 

Giant´s Causeway

The place I´m going to describe is located in Ireland, near the coast. It is an impressive cliff surrounded by sea, which has got a spectacular view. The weather is very cold due to the cliff is situated at North Ireland, where the weather is always cool. When you see this place, you feel amazed and surprised because you haven´t seen something such incredible and outstanding like this cliff. Its rocks are square and brown and as you look at it you can see the sea waves breaking into the rocks. I am looking forward to visiting it someday since to my mind it is one of the most unique and incredible places of the world.

Problem/solution composition

Problem:People are not always really concern about how global warming and environmental problems can affect our world and the animals that live in it. We do not use to think about these problems, but we should care much more about them. Global pollution or habitat destruction are, as I see it, very serious problems that are endangering animal species in our world.

Partner´s solution: People should be aware of their actions and they should start to think about how to stop the pollution because if it continues in this way, the world will finish dissappearing. One way would be to avoid people don´t continue huntting endangering animals.

The best place I´ve ever visited

The best place all over the world that I visited in the past was Netherlands. As you will now, this is a very well-known country since it has  a beatiful scenery and many terrific views. To be more especific, I visited a city called Leewarden with my cousin and my godmother two months ago. We stayed there for five days and we could go sightseeing and see many famous places such as The Oldehove Tower, which leans more than the tower of Pisa in Italy.

While we were there my godmmother and me stayed at a hotel in which we had previously made a reservation. My cousin stayed at her student resident because she was going to live there for over a year due to she´s doing her las year of degree in one of the universities of Leewarden with ERASMUS.

A can be seen, I enjoyed this trip a lot because I love the beautiful city of Leewarden and I want you to recommmend to go there and visit this amamzing and outstanding place. 

Novels today

Sports in my life

Sports have became really important in our lifes since they are part of a healthy lifestyle and there are many different types and kinds of them. Personally speaking I´m not a person who likes and enjoys doing and practicing all types of sports or that have been keen on some football or basketball team.

Since I was a child I´ve always loved horses, so when I was six years old my mother registered me in a riding school and I´ve been going there until one year ago. I missed it so much and I am looking forward to go there again and to enjoy this fantastic and outstanding sport.  I have also done another sport in my life, despite those we practice when we are at high school. This sport is volleyball, and to my mind, this is my second favourite sport. I practiced it with my friends in my town and we were in the local team. We trained twice or three times a week with our personal trainer and we enjoyed it so much due to we loved and still love this sport. I missed my team so much since we never gave up in bad moments, so I am very proud of what we have achieved.

There are some less-common sports, such as bungee jumping or parachuting, that I would like to do or practice once in my life because I think that are superb and unique sports full of experiences and sensations that any other sport can´t give to you. 

NATURE AND ANIMAL CONSERVATION

Problem:

Writing a comparative/contrast paragraph

The word "music" is divided in many different types or styles, which are very different from each other. On the one hand, I´m going to talk about the Sex pistols , which is a very well-known group. The singers of this group play hard rock music and are always dressed in a punk and metal style. They also use instruments such as guitars or drums. On the other hand, I´m going to write about Rostropovich, who is a famous Soviet and Russian cellist that plays classical and contemporanian music. Those two topics of oppsite music styles are very different from each other, such as in the kind of music, the rhythm, the instruments that are used and the feelings that each type of music transmists to every single person that hears it.

Describing people

I am going to describe an important person in my life, my sister Marta. She is 10 years old and she´s got got brown eyes and straight blonde hair. Another thing about her physical appearance is that she is tiny and small. She is pretty different from me in many ways. As an example I tell you that she is always in moving and she can´t stay calm or still. In a word, we are opposites. Sometimes she can be a little stubborn, but she is so cheerful and pretty that you will love her at the first time you meet her. All things considered, I want you to know that she is one of the best people that I´ve ever met in my life because she can make you laugh and feel happy every day.

Describing a feeling

The Guernica of Picasso is a picture which transmits the pain and the destruction that had happened during the Civil War in Spain. The faces of the characters that appeared in this picture have got a horror expression due to the suffering of the war. When you see this famous picture you can feel the pain and the desesperation that caused the war. In conclusion, I want you to think about how Picasso could describe and transmit such feelings in only one picture and how the picture has become an icon that reflects the suffering and the destruction during the Civil War.

Songs and Memories

This is a post about memories, and about how a common song can remind us important people in our lives. "Lock me up" by The Cab is a song which I first heard when my friend Irene recommended it to me, and since then, I couldn´t have stopped listening to it. At the moment, The Cab is one of my favourite groups because I love all of their songs, and I listen their music every day. This song is very important for me since it reminds me one of my best friends, Irene, who is studying "Journalism and Audiovisual Communication" at the University of Madrid. I missed her so much, and althought we talk every day by whatsapp it is not the same as talking face-to-face. Finally, I want you to listen this song because I´m sure you will like it!.

Brainstorming

As you will know, there are three types of brainstorming: making a list, mapping and freewriting. My favourite one is making a list since you write whatever comes to your mind, even it is not a good idea; you just write it and don´t think much about it. In my opinion this is a great form of writing because you don´t stop and think if it is wrong or right, it doesn´t matter to you at that moment; the only thing that matters is your imagination and inspiration. However, as I see it, there is another remarkable type of brainstorming, which is freewriting. In this kind of writing you will have to let free your creativity and use your writting skills to create and write whatever you want.
